How it started
I have been practicing yoga for more than half of my life. I was born into a family that believed in the power of yoga and was influenced to begin practicing at a very young age. As a teenager I practiced sporadically, but each time I stepped onto my mat I felt a deep call to the practice of yoga. After many dark years of engaging in almost every self-sabotaging behavior possible, I knew that my only way out was through committing to this healing practice. Yoga has been, and continues to be, my greatest and most powerful support system. The healing, growth, and evolution I have experienced is paramount, and I vow to dedicate my life to helping others receive the same transformational effects. This is why I decided to become a yoga teacher, and why I have dedicated my life to sharing this incredible healing modality.
In 2016, after completing a degree in business management, I decided it was time to follow the call and travel to India to study yoga. After returning from this transformational journey, I began teaching right away and have not stopped since. I see myself as equally a teacher and a student. I am dedicated to the practice of yoga and wish to spend a lifetime learning, sharing and evolving. I have completed over 1000 hours in trainings including ashtanga yoga, vinyasa yoga, aerial yoga, yin yoga, barre fitness, FRS inspired mobility and studied with incredible teachers such as Sean Corne, Matt Phippen, Kate Gillespie, Meghan Currie, Bernie Clark and Carrie Owerko. I am an E-RYT 500 and recognized as a YACEP through Yoga Alliance. I continue to study with internationally renowned yoga instructors every year.
Where I am now
After almost seven years of operating Karma Shala Yoga, a yoga studio in Mont-Tremblant, I decided to close the studio to pursue my own teaching goals and aspirations. Owning this studio was an incredible adventure and allowed me to refine my teaching method based on many different yoga modalities and movement practices. I developed an incredible community of like-minded individuals who also believe in the power of yoga to heal, support, and empower our lives.
I am passionate about helping new yoga teachers who don’t feel confident enough to teach learn to create powerful signature sequences that fill classes of dedicated students. I mentor yogis fresh out of their YTT to fill the gaps their trainings never included to become confident teachers with full-time teaching schedules. I have been mentored by incredible teachers and entrepreneurs, and now I want to pay it forward!
This path has transformed and empowered me to live the life my heart always dreamed of.
My intention is to show you that if I can do it, so can you. Sending you love, always. Mel xx
